BSSPD Travel Fellowship

The £1000 travel scholarship is aimed at members of the Society who are Junior Staff or Specialist Trainees. It is provided to support applications, to fund, or partly fund, travel and cost of living expenses in the course of a research project or further education in Prosthetic Dentistry.

The Fellowship will be awarded annually to a Junior Staff member of the Society at the time of application, to fund, or partly fund, travel and cost of living expenses in the course of a research project or further education in prosthetic dentistry. (A Junior staff member is any one not holding a Consultant or Honorary Consultant contract, employed by a Dental School or Hospital at the time of the application deadline.)

Applications for the award must be made to the Honorary Awards Administrator by Friday 17th December 2010. Applications should be made in triplicate and state the reason for the travel and the intended benefits. (It is not necessary for the travel to be outside of the UK.) An estimate of the cost of travel and cost of living should also be included. The application must be supported by a senior member of the Society.

The value of the Fellowship will be up to £1000 and will be funded at the discretion of Council. The President will judge the prize together with two other members of the Society appointed by the President. At least two members of the panel of judges will be from Institutions other than those of the Applicants. The award will be announced at the Annual Conference after being agreed by Council at the Conference Council Committee Meeting.

The award will be in two parts, half of the award will be paid immediately after the Annual Conference and the other half will be paid when the Honorary Awards Administrator receives a report detailing the use of the award. The report may be in the form of a poster display for an Annual Conference, a written report for the Newsletter or in any other format agreed with the President at the time the award is made.
