Regulations

The British Society of Prosthodontics, in association with Coltene/Whaledent UK, offers an annual award to assist undergraduate students with a study relevant to the field of Prosthodontics. The award may be used to fund equipment necessary for the study and/or to provide travelling expenses to the venue of the study. The bursary consists of a cash award of £500 together with a certificate and a separate materials/consumables bursary awarded to the dental school of the successful applicant.

The successful applicant will be asked to present a poster demonstration at the Annual Conference as a guest of the society following their period of study, for which additional financial support will be available.
A candidate should not possess a dental qualification and joint applications by two students are acceptable. A brief Curriculum Vita of the applicant should be included and the application should be supported by the Head of the Department of Prosthetic/Restorative Dentistry of the applicant's school from whom application forms are available. Assessment of the award will be made by the officers of the Society on the recommendation of a panel of assessors appointed for this purpose. The Society may withhold the award if it is considered that entries are not of sufficient merit.

Applications should detail the proposed study under the following headings which are included within the application form:

  • Purpose of proposed study
  • Background of the project
  • Plan of study
  • Relevant references
  • Anticipated costs
  • Reasons for support requested
