BSSPD In-Practice Award

This award is intended to support BSSPD members who work predominantly in dental practice who wish to conduct prosthodontic research or audit, or introduce a new prosthodontic technique into their practice for the benefit of their patients. The award is worth up to £1500 and must be used to support the project proposal, which should detail the costs involved and clearly identify how the award will be used for patient benefit.


The award is made to members of BSSPD at the time of application who work predominantly in dental practice

  • This prospective award is specifically aimed at providing financial support for general dental practitioner members of BSSPD who wish to conduct practice based audit or research in Prosthodontics or introduce a new prosthodontic technique into their practice.
  • Candidates for this award must submit an application via email to the awards adminstrator, stating the case for financial support, and describing the procedure(s)/processes that are to be introduced along with the intended patient benefit.
  • Council are to review the award at appropriate intervals on the advice of the Awards Administrator
  • The award would be for up to a maximum of £1500 subject to review as in 3. Above
  • The award would be part of the remit of the Awards Administrator and would be advertised on the BSSPD website
  • The award will be made on the recommendation of the Awards Administrator following assessment of the application. The decision on the Award is final and appeals are not allowed

The deadline for applications is 6th January 2018.


Mark Steven Howe

The first recipient of the In-Practice award was Mark-Steven Howe of Cotswold Dental. He received his award from Dr Phil Smith in March 2016. He is a self funding full time GDP, the award is to support his practice based 'restorative risk assessment project'.
