This short lecture will cover the basic principles for the successful construction of conventional crown and bridgework. It will highlight the areas which are perceived to cause most difficulty at chair-side and in the laboratory. It will provide a number of clinical tips and provide practical information to achieve success. By the end of the lecture the attendee will be able to:

• Apply sound principles for crown and bridge manufacture
• Rationalise why difficulty occasionally occurs during crown and bridge manufacture and be able to lessen such difficulty.
