2017 Annual Conference Prizes

Abstract submissions have now closed

The 2017 Annual conference offers delegates the opportunity to enter for a number of prizes /awards. Please note that the society does not provide financial support to facilitate attendance to present for prizes and they can only be made by delegates of the conference.

Schottlander Oral Presentation Prize
The Schottlander Oral prize is awarded to the best oral presentation, from those eligible, at the annual conference. All applicants must be current members of the society. Applications for this award are sought from members of the society and especially but not exclusively from those in training positions. The main focus is on a presentation relating to research and innovation in Prosthodontics, including, but not limited to, clinical case management, clinical, educational and laboratory based research, and also audit. The judges will be looking at the impact any innovation would be likely to make in prosthodontics, clinical case presentations involving innovation should demonstrate that the approach used has a wider clinical application and impact.

All applicants must submit a structured abstract of up to 500 words prior to the closing date of 31st January 2017 for the shortlisting procedure which will be undertaken by a panel of society judges under the chairmanship of Dr PW Smith.

To submit your abstract log in to the member's only area, click on 'awards' on the left hand side and then click on 'submit an abstract', ensuring that you select Schottlander oral under 'type'.

Schottlander Oral Presentations should last about 20 minutes with 5 - 10 minutes for questions from the judging panel. Data projection facilities will be made available and presentations should be in PC (PowerPoint) format. If you wish to present via a Mac interface then you should inform the Society Awards Administrator before the Conference. Shortlisted candidates who are invited to make presentations will receive a conference fee reduction of £100. The British Society of Prosthodontics, in association with Schottlander, offer an annual prize of £750, together with a certificate, to the principal author of the winning presentation given at the annual conference of the society.

Prize winners will also receive a certificate at a dinner hosted by Brian Schottlander in the Autumn of 2017.

Schottlander Poster Presentation Prize
Schottlander also provide a prize for the best Poster Display. This takes the form of a cash award of £150 for a single winner. If the judges recommend that the prize should be awarded to two posters, the cash award would be £100 each.

Prize winners will receive a certificate and are invited to a dinner hosted by Brian Schottlander in the Autumn of 2017.

President's Poster Presentation Prize
This is for poster presentations of clinical cases by those within 10 yrs of qualifying, STRs or PG students in Masters courses. The prize is an IPad.

All applicants must submit a structured abstract of up to 500 words prior to the closing date of 31st January 2017 for the shortlisting procedure which will be undertaken by a panel of society judges under the chairmanship of Dr PW Smith.

The Early Practitioners Poster Prize
This is for poster presentations of clinical cases by current or last year's foundation trainees (previously known as Vocational Trainees or latterly DF1s). The prize is an IPad.

All applicants must submit a structured abstract of up to 500 words prior to the closing date of 31st January 2017 for the shortlisting procedure which will be undertaken by a panel of society judges under the chairmanship of Dr PW Smith.

Please note that for 2017, all posters will be displayed electronically so you do not need to print your poster out.
