Title: “Contemporary prosthodontic management of hypodontia” 

Aims:

  • To review the challenging features of hypodontia that impact multidisciplinary and prosthodontic planning and treatment
  • To describe the use of adhesive dentistry in the treatment of hypodontia patients
  • To describe how a variety of dental implants can be used to overcome the challenges

Objective: To raise awareness of a variety of prosthodontic approaches to managing hypodontia, the challenges that have been addressed and the challenges that remain.

Matthew is a Consultant and Clinical Lead in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff University Dental Hospital and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry for the School of Dentistry. His main clinical interests are in the management of hypodontia, dental implantology and endodontics. Matthew also manages dentoalveolar trauma and oncology rehabilitation with fixed and removable prosthodontics. He is a Royal College of Surgeons examiner for the diploma in implant dentistry and a council member for RD-UK.
