Consultant in Restorative Dentistry BDS FDS MRD

Title: Dismantling crown and bridgework in the heavily restored dentition.

Aims:
To discuss the clinical rationale for, and various methods of, crown and bridge disassembly, as part of treatment planning in restorative dentistry

Learning outcomes:
On completion of the talk the participant will be aware of:

  • the risks and benefits for removing existing crowns and / or bridgework, so as to inform patients appropriately as part of the consent / shared decision making process
  • various items of equipment and clinical techniques applicable to crown and bridge disassembly

Jeremy qualified from the University of Wales, School of Dentistry in 1991. Currently, he is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry working for Abertawe Bro Morgannwg Health Board, based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea. He maintains a private Endodontic Referral practice at Rhiwbina Dental Surgery, Cardiff. He is an Examiner and an Assessor for the M Endo Examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Programme Director of the MSc in Clinical Endodontics of the University of South Wales.
