Removable Prosthetics and the Toothwear Patient

Aim:
To describe how Removable Dentures can be used to rehabilitate the worn dentition.
Objectives
- To describe the design features, advantages and disadvantages of overlay/onlay and overdentures.
- To describe the synchronous oral rehabilitation of a severely worn dentition requiring a maxillary overdenture and the opposing arch requiring direct restoration with composite resin.
- To discuss the importance of providing posterior occlusal stability in bilateral free-end saddles with partial dentures (after restoring a severely worn anterior dentition).

Mr Ali completed his specialist training in Restorative Dentistry in 2015 and his Post CCST Fellowship in Head and Neck Oral Cancer Rehabilitation with the North Western Deanery in 2016. He is now Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool Dental Hospital and also based in Specialist Practice in Manchester. Rahat is a GDC registered Specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics and Prosthodontics.
