Welcome to the British Society of Prosthodontics website.

It is a great privilege to be the President of the BSSPD for the next year. The Society has just celebrated its diamond jubilee and, whilst its history is something to be proud of, its main focus is on the present and future, in particular to support clinicians and dental care professionals in the delivery of high quality patient care in what appears currently to be a rapidly changing health care environment. In working to this aim, the Society also offers a number of awards to promote and advance education and research in the science and practice of fixed, removable, implant and maxillofacial prosthodontics. So whether you are a general dental practitioner, specialty dentist, specialty trainee, registered dental technician, clinical dental technician, or connected in some other way with prosthodontics, it is hoped that you will find this website interesting and informative.

The Society has just enjoyed a very stimulating and successful conference on the theme of tooth wear, arranged by Janice Ellis, our immediate Past - President. The conference, which took place at the Sage in Newcastle, had a broad based educational programme which was clearly appreciated by the high numbers of people, both members and non-members, who attended. The annual conference in 2014 will take place in Dundee.

Regular visitors to the website will know that in previous years there have been a number of events outside of the annual conference to allow members and non-members to acquire CPD. During 2012 a range of hands - on workshops took place in London, Manchester and Durham. These workshops were generously delivered by members of the Society. The feedback was very positive and it also became apparent that people who were outside of the geographical areas where they took place wanted an opportunity to engage with similar initiatives. During the current year the Society will address this by offering online live and on-demand access to a series of webinars on a range of topics. These are in the process of being set up and it is anticipated that they will rolled out between September 2013 and February 2014. Please look at the adjacent area on the homepage to get a feel for how you could access on-line CPD.
