He is currently Past President 2010-2011 for the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry having been President, awards administrator, conference organiser and council board member of the society in the past.


Craig qualified BDS in 1986 in Glasgow and after a variety of junior hospital posts started his Restorative training as a career registrar in Liverpool Dental Hospital. In 1994 he was appointed as a Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Birmingham during which time he gained an MPhil, a PhD in dental material testing, and the diploma and membership in restorative dentistry from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He completed his training and gained the IFSE intercollegiate examination in Restorative Dentistry before moving in 2002 to his present NHS consultant post at Manchester. He is also Associate Dental Postgraduate Dean for Specialist Training and Director of Education for Manchester Dental Education Centre. He has published over 25 refereed papers, written three books and has lectured both nationally and internationally.


He is the clinical lead for Central Manchester in oral rehabilitation of oral oncology patients, and was one of the national assessors for the National Cancer visits last year. He is an ISFE, MRD and Diploma in Implant Dentistry Examiner as well as sitting on the Education Board of the Glasgow College.
