Chris Butterworth holds a joint appointment between the regional maxillofacial unit at Aintree and the Liverpool University Dental Hospital. He is the lead clinician for the oral rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients in the merseyside region. His main areas of interest are in the use of implant-retained prostheses in oral rehabilitation, and the use of computer software and stereolithographic technologies in planning oral rehabilitation. He is currently undertaking studies into the degree of trismus experienced by head and neck cancer patients following surgery, the effect of oral rehabilitation on quality of life and the effect of dietary supplements on plaque pH in dentate patients following radiotherapy.
