Title: Is Occlusion Relevant to Contemporary Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics?
Synopsis:
It has been stated that “Occlusion is Confusion” and “You should never lecture in public about occlusion because of its controversial nature”. In spite of these warnings, this presentation will confront the topic by identifying the characteristics considered to be favorable for natural dentition occlusions as well as those being advocated for removable and implant prosthodontics.
Objectives:
- Present the characteristics considered to be favorable for static and dynamic natural dentition relationships.
- Describe the features of removable prosthodontic occlusions being used for complete dentures and removable partial dentures
- Discuss the concepts used to develop occlusal relationships on implant crowns and prostheses
Biography:
Dr. Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University and completed a combined program in Prosthodontics and Dental Materials at Indiana University. He served as Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University and as Dean of the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past-President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past-President of the American College of Prosthodontists, and Past President of the Academy of Prosthodontics. He was a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR) and Chairs the FOR Education Council. He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor and teaches in the Advanced Education Program in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University and maintains a practice devoted to prosthodontics and implant dentistry.
